Babywearing on the Job

Who: I’m Autumn Rishty, photographer (http://rishtyphotography.wordpress.com/) and the 28-year-old mama of Ivy who is 9 months and is pictured here with me on the right. On the left are Dana, mama to Henry, whom she is also wearing!

Where: We were at Stroud Preserve in West Chester, PA.

What: I’m wearing a size 7 Natibaby Izer woven wrap. Dana is wearing a Storch Leo wrap conversion ring sling, which, ironically, I own the other half of (we split a wrap and made them into 2 slings). In this photo, I was volunteering for our local BWI Chapter (Babywearing International of Southeastern PA http://bwisepa.weebly.com/) fundraiser and taking pictures of other babywearing mamas and families! As you can see from the looks on our faces, we are all having a grand time!

When: September 3, 2013, 5:30pm

Why: As a photographer and a mother who is constantly breastfeeding, and who couldn’t afford a babysitter anyway, I always bring my daughter with me to photo shoots. Babywearing makes it possible for me to run a small business as a stay-at-home mom. If it weren’t for being able to wear my daughter to all of my shoots, there is no way that I would be able to pursue my photography. I am so thankful to have this creative outlet, opportunity to meet other families, and (be it ever so small) another source of income. This particular picture makes me happy because not only am I babywearing, but it demonstrates how I can use my talents as a photographer to encourage other babywearing mamas!
