I am a mostly tired but very happy mother of two. In this photo I am wearing my 12 month old daughter Blythe. Who in her first year of life has battled three heart defects, hearing loss, feeding issues, low muscle tone and a string of other things because she has an extra copy of the 21st chromosome.
We are standing in the bathroom that doubles as Blythes bedroom in the small apartment that we will soon be leaving behind so we can move on to a real house with a real yard and a real nursery for Miss B. Surprise, it will be pink. 🙂
I’m carrying Blythe in a woven wrap. She is laughing because she loves to be worn and more than that to see her smiling face in a mirror. I am smiling because I am loving our new wrap and I am happy to see her happy.
When: There have been some days in the past year where I could not have said that I was happy. Days that have taught me that moments like this just standing smiling in the mirror should not be taken for granted.
I’m mostly wearing in this picture because we got something new and had to try it out. 🙂 But also because Blythe saw me folding it and wanted up. She always wants up. When she sees a wrap or a sling her face lights up and her arms go out and she smiles so big no one could deny her. I wear her because we love it. Everyday, every moment is a gift, why not spend it snuggled close to the person you love?
